Salt Spring
Health
Advancement
Network

SSHAN acknowledges that its members take up their responsibilities within the ancestral and unceded traditional territories of the Hul’qumi’num and SENĆOŦEN-speaking Coast Salish Peoples.
We are committed to working toward truth and reconciliation by addressing past and present harms, and by building and deepening respectful, positive relationships with all First Nations of Turtle Island.

What is Salt Spring Health Advancement Network?
Our Role in the Community
There is no single organization on Salt Spring Island tasked with holding a comprehensive community-wide perspective on health and well-being. SSHAN fills this gap by acting as a connector, convener, and advocate.
We:
-
Facilitate collaboration between organizations, service providers, and community members
-
Share data, stories, and solutions
-
Create space for collective learning and coordinated action
-
Advocate for the needs of the community with external agencies and systems
In a busy, fragmented system, SSHAN helps bring the bigger picture into focus.
Our Mission
To improve community health and well-being through:
-
Networking
-
Information sharing
-
Collaboration
-
Advocacy
In partnership with the Health Authority, service organizations, and the broader community, following the Community Health Network (CHN) model
Our Vision
A collaborative and connected community working for the well-being of all.
